Lorna Evans Announced as One of Australia’s Top 4 Hairdressing Educators
Lorna Evans, owner of Zumay Salon in Mornington and upstyle hairdressing educator, was named one of the top four hairdressing educators in Australia in the prestigious Hair Expo Awards on Tuesday, 12 March.
“I’ve been an educator of hairdressers for product companies for 13 years and in 2012, set up Lorna Evans Education to train hairdressers nationwide in long hair upstyling, so making the top four finalists is fabulous recognition after a lot of hard work,” Lorna said. “I am more than thrilled.”
Lorna said that the award was judged on innovation in teaching and hairdressing, methods of teaching and of course, the amount of influence my work has in building the hairdressing industry.
“Last year, I released new hairdressing tools like the magnetic bobby pin wrist band and tiny ‘invisible’ hair bands to make upstyling quicker and easier, and a book of my new long hair looks will be released in a few weeks,” Lorna said.
Each year Lorna runs a special long hair workshop that includes a photo shoot with a professional fashion photographer which has led to the resulting collection being published in hair magazines worldwide.
“It is always a thrill to have hair fashion collections published overseas, so I am particularly happy that the participants in my workshops can have this experience and build their portfolios,” she said.
On top of running a successful and busy, large salon and educating other hairdressers, Lorna is also a session hairstylist, hair directing at fashion weeks and fashion shoots for glossy magazines like the new Cielo magazine.
“Not only is session styling great fun but it keeps me up to date with the latest fashion, creating hair looks to go with new seasons clothes.”
Behind the scenes videos and photos of the fashion shoots that Lorna has contributed to including Bendon, Alex Perry and BelleChase can be found on her website: lornaevanseducation.com.au
